CAD Designer – UniGraphics
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Customer Projects, the incumbent is accountable for the creation and maintenance of 3D CAD models and associated 2D CAD drawings using UniGraphics, according to engineering specifications and company standards. Data management responsibilities include the use of PDM systems where available to manage the release and revision status of models and drawings, performing data imports and exports to and from customers and vendors, and keeping design records of all CAD activities performed. Provides technical guidance and advice to other CAD operators and CAD advice and guidance to employees from other departments.
Position Responsibilities
Ø Defines and manages all CAD files and documents relating to assigned development projects, working directly for the assigned development engineer for each project;
Ø Creates and maintains 3D models and associated 2D drawings for each project using UniGraphics;
Ø Maintains the release and revision status of all models and drawings using PDM systems where available, or by company standard manual procedures for model and file management;
Ø Produces all 2D drawings in accordance with internal and external drafting standards and procedures;
Ø Assures 3D model integrity, and produces 3D models in accordance with internal modeling standards;
Ø Performs data exports and imports to and from customers and vendors using FTP, email, modems, or tapes as required, and keeps export and import records per CAD department procedures;
Ø Performs data translations as required to and from other formats (IGES, STEP, Parasolid, other Native);
Ø Keeps design project records of all CAD activities related to assigned projects;
Ø Creates & maintains EDR documents for all CAD activities;
Ø Performs part analyses as allowed by installed software (interferences, tolerance stackups, FEA), and provides graphics as required;
Ø Attends design meetings with engineers, where relevant to CAD tasks;
Ø Travels as required to customers and vendors;
Ø Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
Diploma as a Technician; Technologist preferred
1 - 3 years 3D and 2D CAD Design experience using UniGraphics
Some experience in any of the following: SolidWorks, I-DEAS, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, or ProEngineer
